Bio
Yifan was a JQI Theoretical Quantum Optics Postdoctoral Fellow from 2024 to 2026 who obtained his PhD in physics from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2024. His primary research focus is quantum error correction, using tools from mathematical physics and statistical mechanics to study code performance under various noise models. He is also interested in the more general problem of fault tolerance, in particular surveying the quantum LDPC code landscape to design hardware-efficient protocols for near-term quantum processors such as those based on trapped-ion and neutral-atom architectures. After QuICS, Yifan moved on to NVIDIA as a senior quantum error correction research scientist.
