Bio

In 2024, David Roberts was a postdoctoral scholar working in the group of Mohammad Hafezi at the Joint Quantum Institute and QuICS.  He is interested in driven-dissipative quantum systems, both from the perspective of applications to quantum information processing devices, as well as more fundamental problems, such as formulating new kinds of symmetries, or new mathematical methods for analyzing their dynamics. Much of his research aims to exploit the analogy between classical and quantum stochastic processes, to provide new insights into open quantum systems. His current research is centered around formulating quantum analogues of stochastic partial differential equations, with the aim of rigorously describing driven-dissipative quantum systems in higher spacetime dimensions. David received his PhD in physics with Professor Aashish Clerk from the University of Chicago in 2023. After QuICS, David moved on to a position at Extropic.
