Bio
Charles Cao was a QuICS Hartree Postdoctoral Fellow in quantum information and computer science from 2019 to 2022. His research spans high energy physics, quantum information theory, and gravity. He is particularly interested in emergent phenomena in complex manybody systems. His current research focuses on an approach to quantum gravity where space-time and Einstein gravity can emerge from quantum manybody systems. He has worked on problems in holography, cosmology, foundations of quantum mechanics, quantum information, and tensor networks. Charles received his doctorate from California Institute of Technology in 2018. Starting in July 2022, Charles will be a postdoctoral scholar at Caltech (IQIM) and in January 2023 he will be an Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech.
